Who We Are

Somerset parents and children learning together

Born from passion, United by Purpose

We are a group of Eastside parents who care deeply about children and education. In today’s learning environment—both in and out of school—we see growing challenges: standardized teaching that overlooks individual growth, a lack of structured training in critical thinking, an overemphasis on test scores rather than true understanding, one-size-fits-all curricula that leave little room for creativity, inconsistent teaching quality, and limited access to truly exceptional resources.

As AI rapidly reshapes our world, education must evolve. In this new era, simply acquiring knowledge and facts is no longer satisfying. What truly matters is understanding the deeper principles behind knowledge—and strengthening our capabilities to learn, to think critically, and to adapt. Only then can we empower our children to lead the next wave of transformative innovation—not only helping them grow into better themselves, but also enabling them to build a world that is more advanced, more just, and more equitable for all.

Like many families, we’ve found it difficult to find an education partner we can genuinely trust—one that nurtures not only academic success, but deeper thinking that children will need to thrive in an AI-driven world.

It is for this reason that we came together to co-found this STEM enrichment organization—hoping to contribute by addressing these gaps and providing children with a platform for growth that offers both depth and warmth.

Students' Learning Partner

Dr. Raymond Yu

Raymond Yu, PhD

Principal, Math

I am a passionate mathematician and educator with a deep commitment to fostering a love for mathematics in young learners. My journey began as the best scorer in the city's college entrance exam (Gaokao) in mathematics, which earned me a place at Peking University, where I majored in mathematics. I then pursued my Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of California, further advancing my expertise in the field. Currently, I serve as a Principal AI Scientist, where I apply advanced mathematical principles to cutting-edge technologies. My passion also lies in teaching and inspiring the next generation of mathematicians. I specialize in developing innovative teaching methods that help students build a deep, intuitive understanding of mathematics, enabling them to connect concepts across topics, think critically, and most importantly, enjoy the world through a mathematical lens.

Dr. Sinan Li

Sinan Li, PhD

Principal, Science & Interdiscipline

I am an interdisciplinary thinker with a deep desire to understand the underlying truths of the world and the patterns that govern both humanity and nature. My path started with a PhD in Medical Physics from Imperial College London, followed by an MBA from University of Washington. My career in ultrasound innovation has further helped me understand how things work across boundaries and see the broader implications of innovation today. I believe true understanding comes from distilling a concept down to the point where a child can understand. This belief has shaped my approach to both professional work and teaching. I love being challenged by kids and inspiring their curious minds to think critically and connect the dots that bind knowledge together. I also believe kids' intelligence often exceeds our own, for their minds are open and free of assumptions.

Michael Chen, PhD

Michael Chen, PhD

Principal, Technology

Michael Chen is a technology leader and children's author who is passionate about making AI and complex real-world ideas accessible to curious young minds. He holds a PhD in engineering from Oregon State University and an MS in Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago. Over the past decade, Michael Chen has applied data, algorithms, and artificial intelligence to help businesses and investors make smarter decisions. He also advises University of Chicago students on real-world AI projects that bridge classroom learning with industry challenges. As a father of two and an active community volunteer, Michael Chen believes every child deserves an engaging, age-appropriate introduction to real-world ideas like AI. He aims to help young learners explore how machines learn, how data shapes decisions, and how to use technology responsibly, creatively, and for the greater good of society. In this fast-changing world, Michael Chen's mission is simple: to inspire the next generation to ask bold questions, think critically, and imagine a future they can help build.

Fei Gao

Fei Gao

Principal, Engineering

Fei Gao is an engineering educator driven by a deep love for building, experimenting, and bringing ideas to life. With a background in mobile systems architecture and years of industry experience at leading global companies, he brings real-world engineering into the classroom in a way that is both practical and inspiring. Fei is known for his contagious enthusiasm—he doesn't just teach engineering, he lives it. Whether it's designing systems, crafting devices, or exploring robotics, he thrives on turning imagination into working solutions. His teaching style encourages students to think like engineers: to question, to prototype, to fail fast, and to build again. With extensive expertise in Android platforms, system integration, and product development, Fei connects foundational STEM concepts to real applications—from everyday technology to advanced robotics. He emphasizes hands-on learning, creative problem-solving, and teamwork, helping students gain both confidence and technical skills.

Su Huang, PhD

Su Huang, PhD

Principal, Statistics & Economics

Dr. Su Huang is an applied economist and data scientist who specializes in using mathematics, statistics, and artificial intelligence to solve real-world business problems. He currently teaches business analytics and quantitative decision-making at the University of Washington Tacoma’s Milgard School of Business, where he brings real industry challenges into the classroom and helps students apply analytical thinking to practical situations. In parallel, he serves as a Principal Data Scientist at an AI startup, where his work bridges advanced AI capabilities with domain knowledge from specific industries and companies, enabling organizations to generate practical value from AI-driven insights and decision support. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Huang mentors local students through a middle school math club, encouraging young learners to explore mathematical thinking and problem-solving beyond the classroom.

Candy Guo

Candy Guo

Principal, Advanced Learning prep

Candy Guo holds an MBA from Renmin University of China and a Master of Advanced Management (MAM) from Yale University, bringing with her a strong academic background rooted in both Eastern and Western education systems and a broad international perspective. During her time at the Yale School of Management, she served as a teaching assistant, gaining valuable experience in both instruction and student support. Over the years, Ms. Guo has focused on after-school tutoring for elementary students. She excels at sparking students' interest in learning and helping them build strong, sustainable study habits. She advocates for a method of learning that emphasizes understanding and application rather than rote memorization or excessive homework. Her goal is to help students achieve systematic and efficient knowledge acquisition within a limited study time.
